The HAT Collection
About The Collection
The most stand-out thing to tell you about this collection is that I felt compelled to create it!
A clear stylistic departure from anything I’ve created before, the idea came unexpectedly, inspired by the hat wall at Six Senses Ibiza. Once it took hold, I found myself drawn to the studio, compelled to see the paintings through.
I’d been wanting to work on a larger scale for some time, and these paintings gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.
The first, off-white canvas is directly inspired by the the colours of the hats at Six Senses. The following two took on a life of their own, with lifelike hats set against rugged, peeling-plaster walls.
"In five years as an artist, I can’t recall that I’ve experienced such a strong desire to create something I sensed was there waiting for me."
I went to sleep thinking about the paintings and woke with colour combinations in my head. I lived with a quiet excitement about every detail — from the layout and orientation of the nine hats, to the colours and their placement within the grid.
Making The HAT Collection was a very different way of working. Precise, technical and carefully considered, the paintings became an unexpected deep dive into light and shadow — something I had never explored quite so intensely before.
Before the first canvas was finished, I already knew there would be more.
The Hat Collection — Series One marks the beginning of a new body of work, with a second series to follow next year. These first three paintings are the original introduction to this new direction.
📌There will be no prints of these works. Each piece will remain an original, making this first series a particularly special opportunity to own one from the very beginning.
I hope you love them as much as I have loved creating them. Enjoy browsing the collection, email me with any queries.
