ABOUT

It took me more than 40 years to realise I was an artist.
I didn't know I could paint.
The unexpected discovery happened in 2021 when, in the aftermath of the pandemic, I found myself experimenting with paint. Within a matter of months, I had become a full-time artist. Five years later, I'm still pinching myself that this is what I get to do every day.
I work from my countryside studio near Ilkley and regularly travel to our family home in Filey, where I exhibit at the Pop-up Gallery shop — a venture I run alongside my parents and daughter.
my process
I'm an intuitive painter, which means I rarely begin with a fixed plan. Instead, I lean into the creative process and allow each piece to emerge naturally in the moment.
I work primarily with acrylics, often incorporating vintage maps and other meaningful materials into my paintings. Yorkshire sand frequently finds its way into my coastal work, adding texture and a genuine connection to the landscapes that inspire me. These personal touches have become a signature of my work and are especially popular with commission clients seeking something truly unique.
Growing up on the Yorkshire coast continues to influence much of what I create, and many of my paintings are inspired by the sea and made with our coastal gallery in mind.
As my artistic journey has evolved, so too has my subject matter. The rich greens of the Yorkshire Dales, where I now live, feature throughout my work, also the Lake District, where I love to hike.
Thank you for being here. If you'd like to know more about my work, commissions, or upcoming exhibitions, I'd love to hear from you.
