Nestled among the famous peaks of the Yorkshire Dales, Ribblehead Viaduct cannot fail to leave an impression on the viewer. I have seen it in nearly all weathers and experience awe every time. The landscape is as much of a visual delight as the engineering.
With this interpretation on canvas, I wanted to create a dramatic, yet luminous landscape. I’ve kept the viaduct loose, chosen to use soft blush tones for the peak, and created the sky to evoke the wondering of rain or rays.
Features a vintage map of the area also known as Batty Moss.
